Major label music video

Major label music video

The second music video I am going to be analysing is going to be Love Story by Taylor Swift, who is signed with the music label Big Machine.

This certain song genre is country pop and was written by Taylor Swift and was produced by Nathan Chapman. The song was brought out on September 12th, 2008 by Big Machine as the lead single to her new album Fearless. The song was written about a love interest of Swift's who her family and friends did not get on with, so because of this scenario, she has related the song lyrics and video around the plot of William Shakespeare's, Romeo and Juliet. However she has replaced the tragic ending of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet with a happy ending. When the song was brought out it sold over 7.8 million copies of the song world wide, therefore resulting in it becoming one of the biggest singles of all time.
The song it's self is both narrative and performance based, we can tell this because the video shows both the singer singing in to the camera in a certain setting but then also cuts to a story, of the singer and another person who is acting with her.
As you can see here i have taken a screen shot of when the singer is singing into the camera, by doing this it helps the viewers feel what she is feeling because she can use her face to get across more emotions, because we can watch her emotions change on her face. The lighting for this part of the video is very bright and clean, which contrasts with the video because the actual song lyrics are quite sad and sound like she is lost with in love but doesn't know how to control it.

You can tell this is major label video because of the costumes used and also because of the different setting used within the video. the costumes used with in the video are very pristine and expensive looking because they are long ball gowns and suits, which you normally see upper class people wearing when going to a large ball etc.
